The IRS Shows How Everyone Can Use Free File for Your Taxes

The IRS Web Site will answer several questions about e filing your taxes online.  If you wonder whether or not you can qualify for free e-filing, how you can get your return filed faster and receive your refund quickly, what forms you may need and more.

There are several options when it comes to free e tax filing but the IRS Web site is one of the best choices.  If you go directly to the irs.gov web site you can click on the link that say Everyone Can eFile and learn what companies provide the free software to do so.  The web site is also filled with all the information you need about forms, free tax help, avoiding errors and more.

The IRS Web Site States the following:

The Free File program provides free federal income tax preparation and electronic filing for eligible taxpayers through a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and the Free File Alliance LLC, a group of private sector tax software companies. Many companies offer free or paid state tax preparation and efiling services. Some companies may not offer state tax preparation and e-file services for all states.
With all Free File options you can:
  • File your taxes any hour of the day or night.
  • Know that your return is safe and secure.
  • Receive a quick IRS confirmation, within 48 hours, that your return was received.
  • Get your refund in a few as 10 days with Direct Deposit.
  • File a free federal extension.

Once you go to the web site you can choose a free file company or let the IRS help you find a company.  Another way is  to Choose Free Fillable forms and complete your taxes on your own.


On many of these there is a requirement that your gross income be under $57,000 for 2009.  Make sure that you pick one of the programs that will let you file your state taxes also.  Another thing to remember is that most of these programs will charge you to file your state taxes.  In order to file your state taxes for free be sure to check with the Revenue Web site for Your State to find out if they provide a free file option.  Most states do offer a free file program it just takes an extra step.


Even if your taxes do not qualify for the refund it's good to look at some of the free efile web sites because they do provide an inexpensive option for filing taxes electronically.
For some it's still easier to import last years taxes into this years tax software and pay to efile. Especially if your taxes are more complex. Using the IRS web site along with a tax program that fits your needs works well when it comes to doing your taxes on your own and filing them electronically.

After the Pabst descendants sold the house in 1908, it became the archbishop’s residence and the center of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee for over sixty years. When it was sold in 1975 for the second time in its history, the mansion was nearly torn down to make way for a parking lot. After a three-year crusade for its preservation, the Pabst Mansion was spared demolition and has been under active restoration ever since. This highly illustrated history includes hundreds of current and historical photographs, documenting the extraordinary history of this exceptional residence.
